Farewell or Whateva...

Last night, I attended my farewell party at my college... I would rather call it "get lost" party or "F### Off " party that the juniors throw to their seniors... it is this time that the juniors feel that they have entered a new post called "seniors"... but the fact is that seniors post is more of a demotion than promotion (personal thoughts you see)...

I somehow feel that these farewell parties are more or less the same... there are some professors who speak crap and then there are seniors who lie about the time that they spent in college and the kind of value they added over the years and then there is dance party (this part is something that everybody enjoys...) followed by dinner and some return gift which will constantly remind you of the college that you studied in (i have already forgotten the college where i did my MBA from). This is the so called the "FAREWELL FRAMEWORK". Everything happens as per the above stated framework. Something similar happened to the farewell party last night... So Here it goes...

The party started with the speech of the director and the placement co-ordinator giving "BRIEF" speeches... the fact remains that these two people are so fat that their "BRIEFS" are of XXXXL size... so you could imagine the brief that they might have provided with... simultaneously we were served with soft drinks to bear the briefs... thank god for the soft drinks :)

Then we were provided with "return gifts"... i felt like i was anil kumble carrying the stump after his 10 wicket haul... 2 years in this college and still alive is a much more worthwile achievement than that... and i get a red rose and a wrapped gift for that achievement... i still havent opened it... you see its a surprise... but i guess its a photo stand/holder or whatever you call that...

Then we had seniors talkin about the time that they spent in the institute... i guess people are carried over by the latest set of hoardings which read "SPEAK UP... ITS IN YOUR DNA"... and so they kept on speaking about friends, studies, library, toilets, staircases and all other useful things in the institute... then there was a guy who sang "O HANSINI..."... what was that guy thinkin when he sang that song which was so called "dedicated" to the couples in the institute... i guess he was carried over by emotions and had to spill it out in some stupid form or the other.... Then there was another guy who sang "PAPA KEHTE HAIN BAD NAAM KAREGA..." oops sorry, it was "PAPA KEHTE HAIN BADA NAAM KAREGA..."
... he still believes that his papa has expectations from him (all i would say to him is that your papa stopped expecting anything since the day you joined this institute)... he was singing with his eyes closed... probably couldnt see the audience in pain and agony... i also spoke up and gave a piece of my mind to the guys out there... :)

Then there came the dance party where people danced on all songs from hip hop to reggae to pop songs to "ITEM NUMBERS"... this was the most fun part of the program and it seemed to end as soon as it started... i guess all people have a huge appetite for dance out here in india with the culture of dancing extending from ganpati visarjan(no ralphie... this is not priya ganpati) to dandiya raas... so we had a jolly good time out there... followed by dinner and a final get lost from the venue...

My appeal to all people who are planning farewell parties... please try out something new... innovate and have a great time... not that i didnt have a great time... one suggestion would be to allow booze at farewell parties... it would be the best thing to have at a farewell party... atleast i would be in oblivion when ppl are talkin crap :)
